Attorney Michelle Suskauer of the Suskauer Law Firm Volunteers at the Palm Beach County History Museum
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Attorney Michelle Suskauer of the Suskauer Law Firm is a participating volunteer in the Docent Program for The Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum. This program is part of an outreach effort by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County to increase awareness of the county’s history and colorful past.
The Docent Program requires the volunteer to successfully complete an initial training course as well as taking ongoing training classes as needed. It also requires 150 volunteer hours per year. Docents lead groups through the Museum, which is located inside the restored 1916 County Courthouse. Restoration began in 2004 and was completed in 2007, and the new museum houses a wide variety of historic items and art, including interactive displays.
“Becoming a docent is a great way to give back to the community and share my love of education – and of West Palm Beach,” states Suskauer. “The tours inspire people of all ages to have pride in their city and their county.”
The mission of the Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and share the history of Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach County History Museum (and the historic courthouse itself) is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Courthouse is located at 300 N Dixie Highway in downtown West Palm Beach. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may contact the Historical Society of Palm Beach County at 561-832-4164.
